In need of some levity? Then allow Hornet to direct you to its latest spot for Kroger created alongside its friends at DDB New York.
The spot is called ‘Low.’ And thanks to a throwback Flo Rida tune (by the same name) and some cheerful comedic direction from Hornet director César Pelizer, the 30-second ad is about as feel-good as a Golden Retriever puppy at a frisbee convention.
But don’t just take it from Hornet. Take it from the deluge of comments that have accompanied the spot’s launch on Twitter and Youtube. Including “So little to smile about these days. This ad brings a smile to my face & Low, low, low low prices will make me dance too.” and “I just saw a Kroger commercial wit Apple bottom Jeans as the song of choice..... an animated Grandma dropped it low......it's 6 in the morning and I'm dead.”
This commercial is the latest in an increasingly long line of endearing & entertaining spots Hornet have created alongside DDB New York for Kroger over the last year.
As a refresher: Last November, Kroger underwent a massive company rebrand. In addition to a new logo and slogan, they launched a mass media campaign that included a total overhaul of their visual identity. A big part of this visual identity was a cast of original characters created by Hornet’s César Pelizer that would at once be appealing to, and representative of, the diversity of Kroger’s millions of customers—not to mention supportive of their ‘Fresh for Everyone’ message.
In the last year, Hornet has created many Kroger commercials. Some have been funny (like ‘Low’ and ‘Aerobics’), others heartfelt and sentimental (like ‘Table for Nine’). All have been incredibly rewarding, and Hornet can’t wait to see how the Kroger-Hornet-DDB ecosystem evolves from here.
