Hooligan editor Peter Mostert recently edited a moving brand film as part of a new corporate campaign for Solmax, the world’s leading geosynthetics manufacturer. Conceived and directed by Life Design founder / director Linda Notelovitz, 'Pioneering Possibilities' highlights Solmax’s innovations in product engineering, focusing on its advances in making geosynthetics sustainable.
Propelled by cinematic images and sounds of nature, the poetic film speaks to the greater purpose Solmax is serving to protect communities and the environment, with heartfelt testimonials representing waste management consultants, engineers, project managers, specialist installers, environmental surveyors, and renewable energy engineers.
'Pioneering Possibilities' marks the latest in a long line of film and advertising collaborations between Mostert and Notelovitz, including a recent campaign for Land Rover and the award-winning short film, 'Hungry'. Building on their shorthand, Mostert was tasked with weaving together the b-roll and the testimonial portrayals, which Notelovitz shot across an array of outdoor settings – from oceanscapes to mountainscapes to on-site locations where Solmax clients are committed to making their work more earth-friendly.
“Linda brought a beautiful concept to the table and, as always, had a strong vision of how to explain and execute on it taking this film into post,” concludes Mostert. “The cinematography is expansive and poetic, yet balanced with a sense of authenticity through the performances of the testimonials. I edited all seven testimonials to have their own unique feel, dialing in the natural and intimate moments each character brought through their words and their experience of the environments Linda filmed them in.”
