As a composer, American dance music record producer, businessman and leading innovator of house music, Slang Music Group's Vince Lawrence collates an impressive advertising playlist

In selecting these five impactful commercials, my thought process embarked on a creative journey, akin to curating a vibrant playlist for a captivating road trip. Like the master DJ I am, the intention was to craft a collection that shows how magic happens when we can harmoniously blend the power of hip hop and EDM music with the visual narratives. When I picked these ads, I wanted to create a playlist where music takes the narratives to a whole new level. We're talking fusion, baby! Hip hop and EDM colliding like a tidal wave, driving these commercials to greatness. Each track is like a thread, stitching together the feels, the vibes and the dreams of these ads...



Apple - '1984'

Apple's iconic '1984' ad, directed by Ridley Scott, took the world by storm and utilised an unconventional music choice to revolutionise communication. Imagine the pounding beat of Run-D.M.C.'s 'It's Like That' playing in the background as the protagonist rebels against conformity. The energetic hip hop track, with its assertive lyrics and infectious rhythm, amplifies the ad's message of individuality and liberation, capturing the attention of viewers and forever imprinting itself in advertising history.



Apple AirPods - 'Roll the Dice'

This spot showcases the immense power of music in advertising. The carefully selected track becomes a driving force behind the ad's communication, creating a captivating and immersive experience for viewers. First and foremost, the song itself possesses an irresistible groove and infectious energy. Silk Sonic, composed of Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak, masterfully blends elements of funk, soul and R&B in '777'. The smooth vocals, tight instrumentals and vibrant rhythm create an instant connection with listeners. This musical foundation sets the stage for the ad's messaging to unfold.
