The executive creative directors at adam&eveNYC collectively offer up some of the best ads they've ever seen

Not to wax nostalgic, but our favourite ideas tend to date back to when we were wide-eyed kids starting in this crazy industry. We still look for that feeling in the ideas we make today...

Gatorade - 'Replay'

Agency: TBWA/Los Angeles
Production: Caviar

This idea was way ahead of its time. It wasn’t so much an ad, but a piece of IP that ultimately became a television show. If it was on Netflix today I’d watch it. Hell, as a dad who’s peak athletic days are well behind him, I’d take part in it.

Viagra - 'Golf'

Agency: TAXI Toronto

I started my career in Canada just as this ad dropped. It was jealousy at first sight. The hilarity speaks for itself...or doesn’t, thanks to a very clever device that just happens to be the client’s logo.

Saturn - 'Sheet Metal'

Agency: Goodby Silverstein & Partners
Production: Biscuit
Director: Noam Murro

There’s a ghost sign for an old Saturn dealership in Brooklyn that’s still (barely) visible westbound along the BQE. It always reminds me of the work they did, particularly this spot. Great track. No cars. A car company about people. What a wild notion.

Burger King - 'Whopper Freakout'

Agency: CP+B
Production: SMUGGLER
Director: Henry Alex Rubin

I’m a sucker for mid-2000s CPB work. So many great ones to choose from but 'Whopper Freakout' is probably my favourite. Take the most popular item off the menu and see what happens. Simple genius, and a great example of what happens when you lead with a press release. Probably the first and last great hidden-cam 'social experiment' from a brand and had clients asking for their 'Whopper Freakout' for the next five years.

Skittles - 'Beard'

Agency: TBWA\Chiat\Day NY
Production: MJZ
Director: Tom Kuntz

I don’t think this was the first of the Graf-era Skittles spots, but it’s the first one I remember seeing and still one of the best. Great dialogue, great performances, just awkward enough. You can almost hear everyone on set trying not to laugh. At a time when we’re seeing very little comedy work, it’s comforting to see this campaign still running strong.
