Have You Got the Facts About Owning an Electric Car?

After recognising that car buyers remain extremely frustrated when trying to find consistent and clear information about electric cars, AMV BBDO and Go Ultra Low, a joint government and car industry initiative, have developed a new brand campaign, ‘Electric Sceptics’.

The aim of the campaign is make car buyers aware that Go Ultra Low is the best place to get answers to all their questions on electric cars. In doing so the hope is that car buyers will become more confident when deciding if an electric car is right for them.

The campaign is led by a series of films, each focusing on a key question car buyers have about electric cars, including performance, range and cost savings. Featuring real people who are sceptical about electric cars, the films introduce the electric sceptics to happy electric car owners. After taking them on a drive, the owners explain how electric cars fit perfectly into their lives in a bid to overturn the sceptic’s preconceptions. The twist to the films is we soon learn the electric car drivers themselves have their own preconceptions, such as cricket and amateur dramatics. Conveniently these will be things their new friends will be passionate about. Each film ends with viewer being directed to find answers to any other question they have on electric cars.

The films are supported by radio and press, which drive awareness that all your electric car questions can be answered at Digital display then directs car buyers to the pages on where they can get a relevant answer to a specific question. For example, digital display with the question ‘Just how far can an electric car go on a single charge?’ takes you through to the Journey Range Calculator where you can find out the range of different electric cars. Another digital display with ‘How much money could I save with an electric car?’ directs you through to the Journey Cost Calculator tool, where the user can compare the running costs of their own car with a wide range of electric cars.
