Hefty is the only trash bag that supports Box Tops For Education, one of America’s largest school earnings loyalty programs. By simply clipping Box Tops coupons from hundreds of participating products, families can earn cash for their school to purchase books, field trips, playground equipment, classroom parties, etc. So far, America’s schools have earned over $600 million from Box Tops--with $3.5M dollars donated by Hefty.
Through #SaidNoSchoolEver, Hefty saw an opportunity to raise awareness for its products while tying the brand to a hot issue that is near and dear to its consumer base of moms with school-aged children. Through online videos and memes, the campaign highlights the funding plight many schools face and demonstrates the brand’s commitment to the cause. In addition, Hefty is also encouraging people on its social channels to tag teachers they know who “do it all” in order to show support and recognize the great teachers they know.
For Havas Worldwide Chicago, the agency behind the work, #SaidNoSchoolEver is far more than just another campaign launch. The creative idea was inspired by the team’s collective passion for school funding and desire to make an impact while delivering on the business and brand objectives. Multiple members of the creative team have family who were lifelong teachers, so they saw first-hand the struggles faced by resource-starved schools.
Beyond the individuals on the team, the agency itself is joining in to support the cause. Adding to its existing “Giving Back” CSR programs focused on helping under-resourced children in the community, Havas Chicago will be donating gently used computers and monitors to Chicago Public Schools.
