gyro, the global ideas shop, has appointed Simon Calvert Chief Strategy, Technology & Data Officer of gyro UK.
Calvert brings with him a rare and diverse blend of brand, communications and digital strategy as well as technology and data skills. His appointment follows the recent hire of new gyro London Managing Director Kate Howe. Together they will continue to redefine the ever-evolving business-to-business space.
In the UK, gyro has agencies in London and Manchester as well as healthcare specialist Woolley Pau gyro. The global independent shop has been the most-awarded B-to-B agency during the past four years. Most recently, gyro was named Global Agency of the Year by the Global Business Marketing Association in the U.S.
Calvert’s experience spans the world’s most iconic agencies on five different continents, including Digitas, EuroRSCG, McCann, Saatchi & Saatchi and Michaelides & Bednash. He was most recently Digital Strategy Leader at Mindshare Worldwide providing digital strategy and execution for multinational clients including HSBC, Chanel, Unilever, Dyson, Diesel, Boehringer Ingelheim, Jaguar, and Land Rover, to name a few.
Prior to Mindshare, Calvert was Global Chief Planning Officer at DraftFCB where he partnered with Kate Howe to win NIVEA’s $700M global advertising account. He has also been instrumental to maintaining important global partnerships with media companies like Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Yahoo!, LinkedIn, Twitter, Amazon and Apple.
