Marshall Street Editor’s Owen O’Sullivan has once again worked closely with Knucklehead director Charlotte Regan to deliver a timely new Gumtree spot, using a selection of home-recorded footage from across the UK.
Working remotely due to the current lockdown, the project involved downloading and managing nearly four hours of footage, from both DOP and self-shot material, of front doors and local neighbourhood scenes.
O’Sullivan says: “It’s amazing how positively connected to your community you can feel by staring at a few front doors, that’s the success of this spot I think. It manages to draw a great deal of emotion from what are ‘everyday’ images and feels very connected to the now. It reminds me of that first NHS thank you evening, clapping and banging pans with my neighbours”. Matthew Brown, EP at Knucklehead continued: “As ever, Owen was a dream to work with and we were all impressed by Marshall Street’s remote working set up, that certainly smoothed the production of what could have been a tricky project in these times”.
