Guinness World Records, the global authority on record-breaking, plans to broadcast up to 40 live videos every month of incredible record-breaking feats and interviews filmed around the world via Facebook Live.
To celebrate the launch of the new 2017 edition of the Guinness World Records book, Guinness World Records will highlight and celebrate a whole host of jaw-dropping stunts and demonstrations performed live by some of the world’s most daring record-holders, celebrities and sports figures. The broadcasts have already featured interviews with some of the most extraordinary individuals recognised by Guinness World Records across the world, including the recently announced most tattooed senior citizen female and male, the youngest female with a full beard, and other record breaking collectors.
The films are hosted by a stable of key talent: Asha Leo, a British model, Instagram influencer and travel adventure presenter who will host record attempts and will also try her hand at record-breaking; Australian born Marawa Ibrahim, a multiple Guinness World Records title holder who will introduce record attempts and interviews from all over the world, and Jono Field, a New York-based Australian host and comedian who will interact with both US record holders and members of the public across iconic locations.
Guinness World Records has already been broadcast live from London, New York, LA, Seattle, Chicago and Barcelona, and many more locations are scheduled, including Madrid, Melbourne, Brisbane, Thailand and the Philippines.
Content will be filmed on mobile phones and standard cameras, broadcast via Facebook Live, and produced by a dedicated production team spearheaded by Executive Producers Lindsay Roth and Liam Le Guillou at Guinness World Records.
Rob Molloy, Director of Global TV Content and Sales of Guinness World Records commented: “Our unique content and viewpoint on the world has for many years been a source of huge interest on more traditional television platforms, and now consistently overperforms across digital platforms globally – capturing the imagination of viewers and regularly reaching hundreds of thousands, if not millions of viewers. It feels natural to broadcast these stunts on Facebook Live as we continue to search for innovative ways to engage and entertain our audience as well as bring in new fans from around the world.”
Stand-out successes from the first few weeks of broadcasting include a roller skating record attempt for most 360 degree rotations, an attempt to break the record for the most watermelons chopped on the stomach while lying on a bed of nails, an interview with the owner of the world’s largest comic book collection, and an exclusive first look interview with the record holder for largest Afro – male , who was revealed as part of the recent Guinness World Records 2017 Edition published on 8th September.
