Greenfield’s mission to own ambience began last month with Bacon is Rain—a library of downloadable bacon sounds recorded in high definition and made available to audio houses to be used as rain in film productions. In the latest evolution, they’re giving holiday classic: The Fireplace Channel a sizzling spin—with you guessed it—bacon.
Introducing Cozy Bacon 4K: a festive parody featuring twelve hours of uninterrupted bacon sizzle.
The idea was developed by creative agency No Fixed Address (NFA), who was tasked with creating a holiday social activation to bring people together. D’Arcy Finley, VP, brand and marketing at Maple Leaf Foods and Greenfield said, “As a purpose-driven brand, we wanted to inspire people to take time for what matters. And because it's the holidays, we also wanted to do it in a fun way.”
Jamie Marcovitch, executive creative director (ECD) at NFA, added, "The only thing that brings people together more than a crackling cozy fire is bacon.”
The idea was sparked by social commentary on Bacon is Rain, where the online community shared the agency’s view of the Pavlovian response to the sound of bacon cooking. But the feedback about its calming effect–not unlike a fireplace–was unexpected. Marcovitch, ECD at NFA said, “We learned bacon’s ambient qualities transcend sound. It’s a total sensory experience that people not only love, but find zen in.” To that end,“We wanted to give people more of that. Twelve hours more. As our gift for the holidays, we didn’t overthink it. We gave a peaceful backdrop for all their moments – heightened by glorious 4K. The log channel has had a nice long run.”
Supporting this, the media plan, also done by NFA, was designed to provide a meaningful respite from these moments of hustle and bustle, with social disrupting the endless chaos of the scroll, and preroll to intervene in online shopping. Naturally, YouTube’s peace-seeking yule log searchers were also targeted.
The sensory video was directed by Zach Koski at FUZE Production, with food styling by David Grenier to show it's as mouth-watering as it sounds. The agency worked with Grayson Music Group to leverage Greenfield’s own sound bank of Bacon is Rain sizzles for the sound design.
To deck the dens of bacon-lovers everywhere, the video premieres December 20 on Greenfield’s YouTube channel.
