Isabelle Sieb's recently produced short film "Cancer Hair" won both the Jury and Audience Award at the IMDb Awards at the Bath Film Festival on Sunday night.
Judge Col Needham (Founder of IMDb) called the film "flawless" and proclaimed the jury's decision was unanimous on calling the 10-minute short written and directed by Gail Hackston the winner of the IMDb New Filmmaker Award. The audience agreed and voted "Cancer Hair" the winner out of the 5 nominated short films.
"Cancer Hair" stars Laura Aikman (Keith Lemon: The Film) and David McCusker. An ambitious short film about Claire, young woman in remission from cancer who is extremely self conscious about her hair loss. Her good friend Sandra persuades her to go on her first post "all clear" date with a likely lad Andrew, who is seemingly after a one night stand. After a disastrous start to the date, the two find unexpected common ground in her illness and recovery. This new found affinity prompts her to remove her wig, revealing her true vulnerabilities, if only to him.
