Callum Cooper has shot his debut video with the achingly cool band Metronomy. The video for their latest track ‘Month Of Sundays’ showcases Callum’s characteristically eerie and visually hypnotic style.
Callum drew his unusual inspiration from various Eastern European influences. He was particularly inspired by the stark harmonies of the 1970’s Soviet youth choir and the Spomeniks, the brutalist monuments that are scattered across the former Yugoslavia. Visual influences include Angus McBean’s iconic photographs of The Beatles in the EMI stairwell that feature on the Red and Blue album cover.
His unique shooting methods create a mesmerizing and entrancing piece for Metronomy’s retro folk like melody. Callum has honed his craft and camera techniques on award winning experimental films that have been screened regularly on the festival circuit including Sundance, San Francisco Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand and Melbourne International Film Festival.
