When Nike, Inc. asked Ground Control directors
Motiphe to create a visually striking film for their Aeroloft technology, their
first port of call was Glassworks.
Each of Glassworks' different offices have completed a
recent series of creatively and technically challenging films for Nike, using
high-end CG in varied ways.
Whether it’s been the macro-scale cgi created for Aeroloft and Tiempo, or the energetic animation of The Last Game and Zig Zag,
challenges have been set and then surpassed, always delivering work distinct to
the Nike brand at the very highest of standards.
Motiphe’s brief was to create a film combining
live-action with photo-real macro CG in an unusual way. It would use a graphic
editing style to bring these worlds together, immersing the viewer in a sensory
experience.
Using a series of graphic techniques, from
silhouettes to strobing, the foundations were built to showcase Aeroloft in an
abstract, hyper realistic way. Juxtaposing the slick graphic style with
graceful CG melting snowflakes and emerging feathers, the CG is used to
visualise the move from cold to warmth.
The result is beautiful CG working seamlessly (no
pun intended) with live action, as the garment itself becomes the vehicle for
bringing these two worlds together.
