Focus Music Makes All #TheDifference in New Capital One Film
Capital One’s new #TheDifference campaign is genius. Why? Because it’s based on the age-old tale of persevering through adversity to go on and achieve greatness. We can all relate to that and most importantly, we walk away from it feeling like we can achieve anything…with a little bit of a helping hand of course.
Case in point, international footballer Nathaniel Clyne. From a tough estate in South London, to playing football for his country, the Capital One film depicts the determination and perseverance that it took to get him there: staying out of trouble and keeping his eye on the ball despite the many knock backs. But the message that remains consistent throughout is that he could not have done it without the support of his mum.Whether offering words of wisdom or financial support, she kept him on track. Cue Capital One’s slogan ‘the card in your corner’. So you see, everything ties in perfectly. And the visuals and music are no exception.
UNIT9 Films and director duo Greg&Jacob who created the series do a brilliant job of keeping the advert in the present day yet harping back to Nathaniel’s youth mixing camera shots with graffiti animation. The visuals and the setting scream London so it’s no surprise that music supervisor Tin Drum turned to Focus Music when it came to finding a track that did the same. Focus music’s track ‘Love Thing’ with its dubstep beat provides the perfect underscore and represents London’s urban music scene in the most authentic way.
With this film being so cohesive and engaging, its exciting to see what the rest of the campaign has in store. So keep a lookout for the other films in the series and for more tracks like ‘Love thing’ check out Focus Music’s album ‘Chart Urban’.
