Filmmaker Friday Chicago Hosts Sold-Out Event at the Chicago Cultural Center
On January 17th, 2025, Filmmaker Friday Chicago continued its streak of sold-out events, welcoming 200 filmmakers, creatives, and industry professionals to the Claudia Cassidy Theatre at the historic Chicago Cultural Centre. Spots for the event filled up in under two hours, showcasing the growing demand for authentic connections and creative collaboration in Chicago’s vibrant film community.
The evening featured a dynamic panel discussion titled 'True Stories, Bold Choices: Filmmakers on Shaping the Narrative', featuring special guests director and editor Isidore Bethel and director Olivia Lilley. The panel explored how documentary filmmakers use storytelling techniques to craft compelling narratives and create impactful films that resonate with audiences.
“This venue was absolutely incredible - it gave us a stage worthy of the talent and energy Chicago has to offer,” said co-founder Will Letcher. “We’re thrilled by the response and can’t wait to continue building on this momentum. This event has set the tone for the rest of 2025.”
“This night was a perfect example of what Filmmaker Friday is all about,” added co-founder Clay Kerr. “Being in a space like the Claudia Cassidy Theatre elevated the experience, and we’re so grateful to DCASE for giving us this opportunity. We’re excited to keep raising the bar this year.”

Since hosting its first event in June 2024, Filmmaker Friday Chicago has welcomed over 700 unique attendees in just eight months, underscoring its impact on the local film industry. Looking ahead, the team is excited about establishing partnerships with some of the largest venues in Chicago. "These partnerships are invaluable, allowing Filmmaker Friday Chicago to grow at the pace set by its ever-expanding audience", said Armin Korsos.
