'Fearless Girl' remains one of the most iconic and powerful brand activations of all time, sparking a global conversation about Wall Street and women’s empowerment while earning 18 Cannes Lions, including a Titanium, in 2017.
Now, one of its co-creators, Tali Gumbiner, is bringing her fearless creativity to independent agency Terri & Sandy. She’ll be the agency’s new Creative Director on Princess Cruises, Freshpet and Welch’s Fruit Snacks.
For the past six years, Tali has worked as a freelance creative for leading agencies, consultancies, and brands, including Edelman, BBDO, McCann, VML, YARD, Mastercard, AT&T, TJ Maxx, The New York Lottery, Everytown, Ulta Beauty and Microsoft.
"Fearless Girl struck a nerve - visually, politically, and culturally. The image of a small but defiant girl standing her ground against a massive, aggressive bull was too powerful to ignore. Tali has a gift for sparking cultural conversations that drive brand fame. We're honoured that she was drawn to Terri & Sandy and look forward to her carrying the torch for non-traditional thinking," said Sandy Greenberg, founder and CEO of Terri & Sandy.
Tali began her advertising career as a creative assistant at Mother, and eventually a copywriter, before joining Saatchi & Saatchi. She left Saatchi & Saatchi to join McCann where she co-created Fearless Girl with her then-partner, Art Director Lizzie Wilson, and rose from copywriter to associate creative director. In 2018, Talir left McCann and went freelance, allowing her to continue the advertising career she loved while also pursuing her other passion, writing fiction.
“I worked for a lot of agencies and brands while freelancing, brought some great work into the world, and spent many a late night helping agencies win new business. However, my proudest accomplishment during my freelance time was finishing my novel, which took years - and more years - and focuses on a subject very dear to me,” said Tali.
Tali’s novel, Rape Club, explores a community of women who attempt to heal from trauma by reclaiming the very act that wounded them. She holds an MFA in fiction from NYU, where she wrote her first manuscript, 'What Home Is,' which won the Daniel Goldsmith First Novel Prize.
She was drawn back to agency life by the unique opportunity at Terri & Sandy.
“I really like the idea of working at an independent, women-run agency. I'd heard great things about the culture at Terri & Sandy, and when I came in, the chemistry just felt right. The agency is committed to empowering me as a creative leader and providing opportunities for growth that simply aren’t available elsewhere. Plus, everyone here is beyond nice,” continued Tali.
In addition to Fearless Girl, Tali’s portfolio includes Godiva’s 'Box That Keeps Giving,' which she describes as a “perfect mix of creative and strategy, brought to life in something aesthetically beautiful.” She has also created award-winning work for The New York Lottery and USPS.
Her accolades include Cannes Lions, D&AD, Grand Clio, One Show, Andy, and Effies. Tali was also named to Fast Company’s Most Creative People list and Entrepreneur Magazine’s 50 Most Daring Entrepreneurs.
