This month sees the European launch of the 60-second, HD ad, supporting Sony’s new horror survival game The Last of Us, created by 180 Amsterdam and creative production company Minivegas.
Tasked with creating buzz around, and showcasing the immersive game-play of, this new action-adventure game, 180 and Minivegas created a TV ad morphing a live-action character into a CG game player.
Within the ad, an ordinary man in his own home is immersed and transformed into the character of Joel from The Last of Us. He is then confronted with the extraordinary decisions Joel faces, in order to capture how immersed you become when playing the game.
Maarten Boon, Creative Director and Partner, Minivegas, commented: “This was an incredibly exciting project for us, for the simple reason that it required taking very sophisticated game-play graphics, and merging them with the real-life environment of a man, in his living room. We have created an ad that is not only true to the game it promotes, but adds a new dimension of engagement.”
