Documentary film festival CPH:DOX has launched a new trailer produced by Bacon Production and its feature film department Bacon Pictures.
The director of the trailer, Bacon's Tobias Gundorff Boesen, commented: "CPH:DOX is known for its progressive programming: Through documentary filmmaking, DOX is always daring to look at the uncertain future of tomorrow with all its complications, challenges and possibilities. Unlike me. I’m an escapist, I hide from reality. And I know why. The world is faced with so many problems, conflicts and challenges these days, that things can seem dystopian and hopeless.
"So when I was asked to do a trailer for this year's festival I wanted to pay homage to DOX and the bravery of documentary filmmaking, through my own lens of surrealist sci-fi. I wanted to make a film that faced the worries we have in the world today. Themes of division, technology, escapism, refugees, transcendence, nostalgia, identity and overpopulation. I wanted to show how we feel about these things, in an abstract language. To make it feel both nauseating and fascinating, accelerating and open for interpretation, never certain. Like the future. It makes you want to look away, or to look back in nostalgia. But in order to fix things, we need the courage of looking directly at the challenges with a sense of hope."
