Equals MGMT Signs Director Bertil Vorre

Quirky and odd comedy is the name of the game

Equals MGMT Signs Director Bertil Vorre

Danish director Bertil Vorre has signed with Equals MGMT for representation across The Middle-East, Asia, Eastern Europe and Africa. The signing adds to a strong roster of varied international directors.

Born in the Danish flatlands, Bertil quickly developed an interest for the quirky & odd things that stand out and bring new perspectives to everyday life.

Taking inspiration from the British comedy greats, Bertil’s work ranges from the absurd to extraordinary human performances that can’t help but make you smile.

His latest spot for Epos features a big-brained blue alien shrieking at a bored security guard, perfectly capturing the essence of many “Karen” interactions circulating in popular culture.

"Poor Karen has been through a lot in her life, getting killed over and over again by thoughtless gamers," explained director Bertil. "I felt like she needed that extra drop of built-up frustration, which we managed to show with crazy makeup, visual effects, and a twist of absurd comedy. By incorporating outrageous and unconventional makeup techniques, we exaggerated Karen's appearance to visually convey her heightened emotions - which we had a lot of fun with."

Bertil’s love for quirky & odd moments in everyday life are best displayed in his work for UNICEF in which multiple people are called to action by screaming animal calls across the city. It’s this play between smart comedy and human performance which attracted Equals MGMT to Bertil Vorre.

“Comedy is a tough genre to crack. It’s incredibly subjective and each territory we work in has its own tastes and local humour” explains Scott Pugnetti. “What Bertil offers though is universal because he taps into the human experience, his work reflects what all of us know in some way or form in our lives. The ability to accentuate the small moments that make you smile in an otherwise mundane situation allows him to export his style of comedy globally, there isn’t a client in the world that can’t relate to his portfolio.”

Bertil is excited to share his collaborative way of working with clients globally that are looking to add a taste of the absurd to their projects.
