Directed by Matthäus Bussmann, Soup.Film and Freunde des Hauses present a new way of staging beer.
In the recently released commercial, the viewer and the protagonist embark on a journey into the unknown. The film is an adventure, with the Warsteiner refrigerator door serving as a portal to new, fun and exciting places. The protagonist never knows what’s awaiting him next, but his curiosity draws him from a vibey bar to an extravagant costume party, a chilled neighbourhood barbeque and a major event backstage area. Released during the German Super Bowl halftime show, the film features stellar casting and a modern, international look that magnetically draw in the audience to join the protagonist’s journey.
The production’s journey in autumn 2022 was no less fun. “Though faced with a challenging schedule and high expectations, we managed to stay focused throughout and kept the communication channels between the creative team open,” comments director Matthäus Bussmann, with Carina Susen, Soup.Film’s producer adding: “For this project we had to combine meticulous prep with a flexible creative production scope on the shoot days. With a different director this might have been a disaster, but luckily Matthäus is amazing at heading the ship and making everyone feel included.”
According to Andreas Grabowiecki, marketing director of Warsteiner, the aim of the campaign is to modernise the brand and bring it closer to the people by creating a contrast to its previous product- driven presentation of beer, in which few, if any, people were shown. Now Warsteiner reinvents itself with a story line, colourful images, exciting locations, diverse casting and above all: emotions.
