electriclime° Producer Layal Mooti inspires Next Filmmaking Generation with University Talk

Life came full circle for electriclime° producer Layal Mooti after giving a recent talk at the American University of Sharjah.

It was a special moment for Layal, who studied at the university from 2014-2018, learning her trade before moving into the professional world.

Layal joined electriclime° in Alserkal Avenue in 2019, rising swiftly through the ranks. Having started as an intern, she became Production Assistant, and then Production Coordinator before being promoted to Production Manager.

After that, in October 2022 she was made producer with the company, with her first project in the new role being a spot for Dubai Tourism, featuring dancing duo the Gardiner Brothers.

She then went on to take the lead on various projects for brands such as Dyson and Toyota, filming across the region.

After her superb work and growth in the industry, Layal headed back to the American University of Sharjah to present to students the ins and outs of being a producer.

From the roles and responsibilities that the job entails, to planning a project and imparting to a young, up-and-coming group the best practices of being a producer.

“It was truly a pleasure giving this talk at AUS and walking the students through all the aspects of the production industry that I wish I knew when I was a graduate,” Layal said.

“We went through all the stages from receiving a brief to winning the job award to getting into the hustle and bustle of production in the Middle East.

“I really enjoyed this experience and felt it added value to the students' knowledge of production especially in a professional environment and what to expect once they get into the industry.”
