El Colony’s Dutch director Wouter Stoter has launched two stellar pieces of work this week.
The first is for FNV, the biggest labour union in the Netherlands. The film emphasises solidarity and strengthens unification by letting each worker, who are real members of the FNV, speak about the work of another. Filmed over a four-day journey through the country with a skeletal crew, Wouter filmed real people, often not knowing which particular job they would be doing on the day, which made the task at hand challenging and interesting. What’s more, it uses mostly natural lighting.
The second is for energy company NUON, and feature three stories on the importance of listening. When you listen, you give energy to the person talking. The message is that that’s what NUON is also doing - by listening to their clients’ needs, the company provides them with a specialised package, which saves money.
