CG animation & VFX studio Animatrix was chosen to implement the social campaign, called Hovedløselille (Headlessville) for Denmark railway company DSB. Funny, yet serious films were created in collaboration with creative agency Very and directed by Gaute Hesthagen (Uitch Iscratch), to highlight safety problems in train stations.
The Danish expression ‘Med hovedet under armen’ (‘A head under the arm’, or ‘Headless’) has been literally imparted in this series of short films. Existing safety problems were addressed comically in order to yield the biggest audience. Four short films touch every traveller – from kids to adults. The plots are both entertaining and thought-provoking.
Animatrix had a challenge to implement such a major project over a relatively short period of time. Art director Tomas Juchnevic, commented: “We started animating without having a character, only a rig. Later we added geometry on the rig and replaced it in the animation. That was time saving, and created the greatest workflow ever. We had to imagine not only how characters behaved in the scene, but also how they will look in terms of design.”
