Valspar Connects Consumers to the Power In Color with New Ad Campaign from DraftFCB Chicago that Taps Sensory Emotions.100,000 Free Samples of Paint Given Away to Showcase the Transformative Power of Valspar Color
The power of Valspar Paint color is so strong, it’s electric. That is the message conveyed by Valspar, a global leader in the paint and coatings industry, with the launch of its first product campaign, via new 15- and 30-second commercials created by agency of record Draftfcb Chicago.
Valspar believes color has the power to lift moods, brighten spirits and transform a room. The new commercial, for Valspar Hi-DEF Advanced Color System paint, captures the sensory emotions experienced when applying the first stoke of a new paint color. Tapping into viewers’ senses, the campaign features a woman who feels the powerful transformation elicited by Valspar color. As she opens a can of Hi-DEF Advanced Color System, her reaction is palpable. Reflecting the paint, bursts of blue flash across her eyes with electric intensity as she applies the first stroke of color to a wall.
The campaign launches during primetime on March 28 and will continue to roll out with digital, print and mobile components throughout 2011. Directed by Alex Hanson and Tibo Debaveye, the commercial was shot using the Phantom Camera, which shoots some scenes up to 2000 frames per second. The special effects were produced by the Emmy-award winning production company, Psyop.
Valspar believes so strongly in the power of color to transform people’s lives, it has embarked on the largest custom paint sample giveaway program ever, The Power in Color Giveaway. One hundred thousand customized Valspar paint samples were given away for free via Valspar’s Facebook page to inspire people to bring color into their lives in 2011.
Susanne Champ, director of marketing for Valspar said, “There is nothing quite like the feeling you experience when you put that first stroke of Valspar paint on the wall. It is electrifying and our campaign is designed to help consumers discover the power in color for themselves.”
“Hi-DEF Advanced Color System is the deepest, richest and fullest color offered by Valspar,” said Draftfcb VP, creative director Drew Donatelle, “The commercial captures the high standard of color clarity that only Valspar’s Hi-DEF formula offers.”
