London-based creative sound studio DLMDD has appointed Laura AlYousif, former vice president and principal vocalist of the Cambridge University Jazz Orchestra (CUJO), as executive assistant to its expanding team.
A First-Class Honours graduate in Music from the University of Cambridge, Laura’s academic work explored the evolving impact of sound design on audiences over the last century. Alongside her studies, she composed immersive soundscapes for theatre and led music arrangements and sound effects design for several short films.
Reflecting on her new role, Laura said, “My experience in sound design has shown me how music can evoke powerful emotional responses. Working on productions that rely on sound to communicate complex emotions has honed my ability to translate creative vision into auditory experiences. I’m excited to join a team that champions both the artistic and strategic sides of music branding.”
Max De Lucia, co-founder of DLMDD, commented, “We’re excited to have Laura join DLMDD. Her academic background and practical experience in music and sound design make her an ideal addition to our team. We have a lot of new projects coming up for Laura to get involved with: we’re looking forward to a creative year ahead.”
