The Toronto employment law firm's new campaign breaks away from the typical 'talking head' lawyer ad and, instead, positions them as the ultimate thorn in the side of an exaggerated (but sadly relatable) version of a ‘bad boss’.
The digital campaign 'Bad Bosses Hate Us' created by agency One Twenty Three West, was inspired by the negative experiences many employees face in the modern workplace. From bosses who praise staff living at the office to other bad bosses who fire large groups on Zoom, this campaign spotlights the unacceptable behaviour of toxic bosses and demonstrates how Whitten & Lublin empowers employees to stand up against these ‘Bad Bosses’, showing that they have an ally in Whitten & Lublin.
A recent survey commissioned by Whitten & Lublin found that 82% of people have left their job because of a bad boss but only 9% seek help from an employment lawyer to deal with it. “There are a lot of great bosses. But there are also some bad ones who create toxic environments and don’t follow the law when dismissing employees. This campaign is a way to show potential clients we’re here to help” says Whitten & Lublin CMO, Maria Melo-Boone.
The online videos feature an egomaniacal CEO who becomes increasingly frustrated with how great Whitten & Lublin is at empowering the employees he wrongfully dismissed. Additionally, the campaign features a series called ‘Bad Bosses Read Good Reviews’, where the disgruntled CEO offers his commentary on real reviews left by satisfied clients.
The campaign launched this month and will be supported across connected TV, Spotify audio, online and social.
