Story Productions announces that Formula Dreams, a brand new TV series that has been years in the making, has been nominated for a SPORTEL Award in Monaco. Formula Dreams is a 10-part docu-style reality series set in São Paulo. It follows life in the fast lane for a group of youngsters, aged 8 to 12, competing to be karting champions and dreaming of being the next star of Formula 1.
For Nick Story, the series showrunner, it’s hugely rewarding to receive recognition for the teaser – a 2-minute glimpse of the drama and cinematography that will captivate viewers when it is launched in October at SPORTEL and MIPCOM.
Director Nick Story commented: "A six year old boy wearing a bright red helmet, a tight kart suit and oversized gloves which he was waving around while talking to a friend who was dressed the same, like two little astronauts: this was the image I saw ten years ago when I first pointed my camera into this universe. Ever since I have wanted to tell their story. To be nominated for a SPORTEL award for best promo is a very important marker for the Formula Dreams project and a wonderful accolade to the creative talented team that have helped me bring this project to life."
SPORTEL is the world's leading Sports Content Media Rights and Technology Convention, bringing together broadcasters, buyers and producers from all over the world. The SPORTEL Awards is a highlight of the event, hosted on the first day of the convention – 5 October – to acknowledge the most outstanding sports content from the past year.
