Established agency creative director turned director, holding multiple Clios, LIAs, Epicas and stacks of table tennis trophies has joined Ground Control for UK representation.
Visual, Witty and Whimsical, Kiran has a deft touch born from his agency experience, culminating in a plethora of new director awards including being listed in the Top 10 Global Directors list on BestAdsOnTV.com in his maiden year of directing.
Kiran’s work has a distinct flavour to it. Subtle comedy, driven by finely nuanced performances, impeccable art direction, and clever visual storytelling.
A global talent, Kiran directs commercials for brands in all corners of the world and they include Amazon, Bridgestone, Hyundai, McDonald’s, Oreo, and Zendesk, to name a few.
Before becoming a director, Kiran spent more than a decade as an agency art director in the US, working on some of the biggest brands in the world. An Indian-born Asian American, Kiran is a truly global soul, at home in the East and the West. He has an innate and deep understanding of people, consumer behaviour, culture, brands, humour, and advertising.
Kiran is passionate about great advertising, especially the kind that believes we owe viewers and consumers something artistic, entertaining, and memorable for being uninvited intruders in their lives. Growing up he had multiple pet squirrels nourishing his unbreakable love of animals, and his desire to use them in his commercials as often as possible.
While Kiran is known best for visual comedy, he is a humanist and is drawn to the entire spectrum of emotions in his work. The passion to deliver the highest quality work is relentless. Winning awards isn’t the objective, but he tends to just attract them. We think it’s because of his agency CD and humanist background, he knows what lures in an audience.
Kiran says of signing with GC, "When Michael called, it was a very easy 'Yes'. I was looking for representation in the UK and I could think of no better human to do it with. Truly serendipitous. I was raised on a steady diet of Brit comedy and have spent a great deal of time there, so it’s a natural fit for my sensibilities. I’m a fan of the work that comes out of the market and am giddy at the thought of being able to take a crack at it. I’d like to imagine my knowledge of cricket and being able to eat tikka masala at the 'Native' spice level will prove to be impressive assets."
Ground control EP Michael Stanish says, "Ever since I worked with Kiran on my favourite ever commercial, over 10 years ago (Bridgestone’s Mr Potatoehead for Superbowl XLIII), I’ve been in awe of his talent. Not only does he create commercials that make people feel alive - he’s a super kind human. That’s the kind of work and people the world needs. We’ve remained good friends since, and I was crazy excited about the prospect of working with Kiran. Completely Bonza!"
Ground Control is currently looking to expand office space to fit in a new table tennis table.
