BAFTA
award winning Director Dan Smith has joined the roster at Mendoza Films.
Previously Dan has directed documentaries, dramas and commercials.
In
2014 he was nominated for the BAFTA award for breakthrough talent and his film
went on to win the Specialist/Factual award for David Attenborough’s ‘Natural
History Museum Alive’. The film was the first to be delivered in 4K and 3D and
has subsequently been made into an IMAX film for theatrical release.
Dan
is best known for his work directing CGi creatures, but more recently has
branched out into the virtual reality arena. His passion for this growing technique
has seen him shoot his first hybrid VR short film FLYSPY, which has just been
released.
Dan
hopes to broaden VR’s popularity and use his expertise to work alongside
advertisers as they venture into the exciting world of virtual reality.
His
skills as a Director were honed during his career as an Editor. This experience
explains his ability to engage viewers and develop dramatic visual
storytelling.
Of Dan’s arrival at Mendoza Films, Debby Mendoza says:
“I’m delighted to welcome such a talent as Dan to Mendoza’s roster. His knowledge of CGi and VR makes him an exciting addition. We’re really looking forward to working with Dan and seeking out new opportunities”
