Knucklehead has announced the UK and Amsterdam signing of director and photographer Filmawi for commercials and music videos.

A visual artist based in London, Filmawi is known for his emotionally resonant work, bringing a unique blend of poetic realism and human intimacy to his projects. His artistic vision has captured the attention of both the fashion and music worlds, and he has worked with the likes of Maison Margiela, Big Sean, Ashley Graham, Stormzy, Bryson Tiller, Comme Des Garçons, Post Malone, Sampha, Ghetts, Burberry, Chris Martin, Burna Boy, Ayra Star, Sasha Keable, Elmiene, Rachel Chinouriri, Dizzee Rascal, Chance the Rapper, Adidas, Dr Martens, and many more. Filmawi’s work explores the intersection of art, culture, and storytelling.

Born in Asmara, Eritrea, in East Africa, Filmawi moved to East London when he was 11, and after university worked at AMV as a creative, before going freelance as a director and photographer. His most recent photographic project is ‘The 100’, a book of stills with 100 of the world’s most famous people for Gaffer magazine, and he’s currently working on a photographic project that delves into the mysterious and imaginative world of dreams, depicting the complexity of human connection and disconnection, blending intimacy with alienation, against the backdrop of our extraordinary yet hectic world. Moving image-wise, Filmawi is developing a short film, which explores the complexities of the human psyche, delving into the darker aspects of our nature as it grapples with questions of morality, redemption and free will.

Knucklehead’s Tim Katz said, “Filmawi has a lens that picks up the very essence of fashion and music. We saw his work – both still and moving image - and were immediately captivated by what hedoes. He’s really a part of the Knucklehead ethos by virtue of what he brings to life on the screen”.

Filmawi said, "I’m really excited to be joining Knucklehead, a place that resonates with my creative vision. I’m also honoured to be part of such a visionary collective of directors. Let the journey begin.”
