Inclusive summer C.A.M.P. effort recognised in the DEI Workplace Innovation category

Deutsch NY’s inclusive Summer C.A.M.P. (Creative, Advertising, and Media Program) internship initiative has been selected as a finalist at Southwest® (SXSW®) Conference and Festivals (March 10-19, 2023) Innovation Awards, which recognise and celebrate the most exciting tech developments in the connected world.

"The SXSW Innovation Awards highlight the creativity, originality and passion of the global community which gathers every March in Austin," said Hugh Forrest, co-president and chief programming officer. “The finalists in the 14 categories that make up this programme point to a world where technology is used in a more thoughtful way, as well as where places of work foster more positive outcomes for all involved."

“We are honoured to be recognised by SXSW for our Summer C.A.M.P. programme and to be in the company of so many other amazing efforts,” said Val DiFebo, CEO of Deutsch NY.  “With limited networks, limited access to affordable housing, and limited time, many opportunities and learning experiences can be out of reach for some. C.A.M.P. is all about breaking those barriers, making this industry a more accessible space for all.  C.A.M.P gives a wide swath people access to the experience they need to get their first job.”

Unlike many internships, Summer C.A.M.P. is an inclusive programme open at no cost or barrier to those interested in learning about the industry. The programme is designed to teach rising talent about the different disciplines within an agency and the processes that go into creating brand-building marketing communications and is taught by Deutsch NY professionals. It culminates in a collaborative assignment, giving the interns a chance to work together and demonstrate what they’ve learned.

Of hundreds of applications submitted, Deutsch NY’s Summer C.A.M.P.  was one of 70 finalists selected across 14 categories by a panel of judges composed of industry peers and experts.

Each entry was graded on four criteria: creativity, form, function, and overall experience. The winners in each of the 14 categories, plus additional honors will be awarded at the 24th annual SXSW Innovation Awards on Monday, March 13, 2023.
