David Jones has appointed brand and retail design agency Dalziel and Pow, to create design concepts for application across their store portfolio.
David Jones's new South African owners plan to double spending on stores, visual merchandising and systems - in an attempt to reverse years of underinvestment and transform the 177-year-old retailer into the best department store in the southern hemisphere.
With a resurgence of department stores across the globe, the new owners are determined to put the retail giant back in its rightful position and take back market share from other department stores, incoming global brands and specialty retailers.
Dalziel and Pow's initial brief is to create concepts and communications for a number of openings later on this year.
David Dalziel, Founder and Creative Director of Dalziel and Pow, said: “This is a great opportunity for us to create something powerful in the region, capitalising on the expansive brief and the skills and enthusiasm of the client team”
