Rizuto’s commitment to clients and his culturally diverse background spanning global work experiences secured his appointment

DENTSU CREATIVE has announced its US/Hispanic LATAM chief creative officer Rafael Rizuto.

Rizuto will oversee DENTSU CREATIVE’s US/Hispanic LATAM markets, delivering holistic solutions across dentsu’s Creative, CXM and Media businesses through an approach called 'Horizontal Creativity'. His more than 20 decades of experience in creativity, strategy and partnerships will further expand DENTSU CREATIVE’s leadership team and showcase the network’s commitment to creative excellence.

Rizuto will report to Fred Levron, global chief creative office, Dentsu International.

“Ultimately, creatives will remember if you helped them create their best work and how you made them feel doing it,” said Levron. “Rafa is not only a top creative leader, he is also an extraordinarily warm and generous leader. That’s what DENTSU CREATIVE believes the new generation of leaders should be. Rafa will be responsible for driving creative excellence for clients in our biggest region, and it really is such a pleasure to have him as part of the DENTSU CREATIVE team.”

When asked why he decided to join DENTSU CREATIVE, Rizuto said he was sold by its vision.

“At a time and age when big players are pretty much talking about capabilities and convergence, treating creativity as a commodity, it’s very refreshing to hear a major player like dentsu talking about creativity being the artery through it all, doubling down on it,” Rizuto said. “I couldn’t be more excited to embark on this new beautiful adventure with such an amazing group of humans.”

Jacki Kelley, CEO, dentsu Americas added that Rizuto was a shoo-in because of his commitment to understanding clients’ marketing and business challenges as well as his multidisciplinary and culturally diverse experience spanning Brazil to the Middle East to the US.

“This will give our clients an edge, drive new thinking and deliver holistic creative solutions for their businesses,” Kelley said.

Rizuto joins DENTSU CREATIVE from BBH US, where he served as chief creative officer across its NY and LA offices. As a Brazilian-born, international creative, Rizuto has worked his way across the globe making stops at Ogilvy & Mather in Brazil, Ogilvy & Mather and Leo Burnett in Dubai, Pereira & O’Dell, 180LA and TBD in San Francisco - the latter being an agency he launched at the end of 2017.

Rizuto has received numerous accolades throughout his career and is behind award-winning projects such as Boost Mobile’s “Boost Your Voice” and Google’s “Black Owned Friday.” He has won over 300 international awards including Grand Prix, Golds and Pencils at Cannes Lions, D&AD, the One Show, Clios, London International Awards and the Effies. He also served on the jury in the following festivals: Cannes Lions (Glass Lions), D&AD (Creativity for Good), Clios, London International Awards, The Effies, Dubai Lynx, New York Festivals + Others.

His appointment follows the high profile launch of DENTSU CREATIVE at Cannes Lions and Cannes Lions 2022 Agency of the Year Recognition. Dentsu was also awarded a Titanium, three Grand Prix, one Gold, three Silver and three Bronze Lions for “The Unfiltered History Tour” for VICE media. DENTSU CREATIVE momentum includes a number of recent hires such as Michael Schachtber in Germany, Mandie van der Merwe and Avish Gordhan in Australia, Pedro Pérez in Chicago, US and Riccardo Fregoso in Italy.
