On Thursday 17th May, the 31st ADC Creative Awards took place in Prague. The evening, filled with creativity, belonged to the Prague agency DDB, which scored the highest number of points in the competition (a total of 620).
The agency also took home the Grand Prix for their work on 'TurboKaddy 2.0' for Kaufland. This campaign created by the agencies DDB, Fuse and OMD, won a total of three gold ADC Czech Creative Awards in the categories Social: Community Activation, Gaming and Brand Partnership, and a silver in the Campaign: Integrated, adding to awards like the Bronze Lion from last year's Cannes Lions.
”I have to say we kind of anticipated TurboKaddy to score at the local awards after it won a Cannes Lion last year, but I think none of us expected the win to be this big,“ says CCO of DDB Prague, Klára Palmer. “I’m glad the jury recognized this work built on humour and exaggeration on such a high level. It sends a clear signal that fun still has its place in the advertising industry and can deliver great results."
TurboKaddy began as a joke and so-called MEMErch, but during the activation on social media, young gamers showed interest in it. It went viral among esports fans, and soon players started bringing signs to events, demanding it. Through the collaboration of Braasi Industry, Kaufland, and SINNERS Esports, fifty TurboKaddies were produced. Even more importantly, all proceeds from sales went to support seniors through the charity Ježíškova vnoučata (Baby Jesus’ Grandchildren), which helps elderly to rediscover joy of Christmas and fulfil their wishes. TurboKaddy then broke the record for charity streams on Twitch, and the youth community contributed over one million CZK.
Last but definitely not least, DDB Prague also secured two bronze ADC CCAs for the campaigns 'Cheese Saga' for McDonald's and 'When Eyes Are Your Biggest Blind Spot' for GrandOptical.
