DOMO has just added a fresh and exciting voice to its roster with the signing of Danny Seth, a director whose work blends raw creativity with a strong narrative focus. Known for his bold, emotionally-driven storytelling and innovative visual style, Danny’s foray into the world of directing marks an exhilarating next chapter in his already dynamic career.
Hailing from Watford, England, Danny’s journey to directing hasn’t been conventional, but it’s precisely that unorthodox path that defines him. From music industry beginnings to fashion to tech, and finally diving deep into music videos, this is a story of persistence, reinvention, and above all, a passion for creating something meaningful.
From Dreams to Directing
Danny’s creative journey as an artist began with a love for music and dancing. He recalls how, as a child, he was fascinated by Michael Jackson’s moves and often dreamed of performing on stage. Though these early interests suggested a potential career in the performing arts, Danny’s journey veered in a new direction when he flew the northwest London nest aged 19.
Driven by big dreams, he took an internship at a publishing company, and set his sights on a future where his ambitions of being a signed music artist and producer could become reality.
"I had big dreams, and I knew I couldn't make them happen in my hometown," he tells me, reflecting on this decision to leave home. His love for creative expression and drive for independence led him to a series of roles—starting with an internship at a record label, moving into fashion tech, and ultimately signing his first record deal with Atlantic Records in 2014.
It wasn’t until after several setbacks with record deals that he found his true calling in directing. “I started making my own videos,” Danny says. “But the 21 Savage video was a turning point—it was where I began to truly define my vision.”
Cultivating a Filmmaking Vision
At the core of Danny’s filmmaking style is a deep commitment to storytelling. Unlike many directors who focus purely on visual aesthetics, his is narrative-driven. “I always want to lead with a story—something that takes the viewer through a range of emotions, even if it’s just for a short time,” he explains. “Whether it’s a narrative, a political statement, or a character performance, I like it to have depth.”
This desire for emotional resonance and purpose-driven work has defined his approach to directing. His portfolio of music videos speaks to his ability to tell powerful stories with a visual flair, with projects that dive into themes of identity, self-expression, and rebellion.
Quizzed about his favourite part of the job, Danny admits it's the freedom afforded to him as a director. “There are no boundaries, no rules,” he beams. “Being able to create whatever we want, however we see fit.”
This free-spirited approach is exactly what makes him a perfect fit for DOMO, a production company renowned for nurturing creativity and collaboration. From his upbringing as a musician, the lack of restrictions and the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded creatives is key to Danny’s ability to deliver impactful, innovative work.
A New Home at DOMO
Danny Seth’s signing with DOMO feels like a natural next step in his creative evolution. As a company that is home to visionary directors crafting transformative campaigns, DOMO prides itself on being a place where storytellers grow their creativity through enhanced collaboration, DOMO is a space that will allow Danny to push the boundaries of his craft. With a rich history of cultivating innovative talent, DOMO provides a platform where Danny’s narrative-driven, freedom-focused style can truly flourish.
For DOMO, Danny brings a unique blend of music industry experience, a fresh, experimental approach to visual storytelling, and an understanding of the importance of pushing creative boundaries. His multifaceted career demonstrates an ability to adapt, innovate, and connect with diverse creative industries, making him a strong addition to the DOMO team.
“Like a symphony of collaboration, every voice, instrument, and note contributes to the rich tapestry of work,” explains Rani Melendez, managing partner and EP at DOMO. “But beyond individual brilliance, there’s a collective melody we strive to uphold. As the new kid on the block, Danny Seth brings a musical background and creativity that is, frankly, off the charts. He doesn’t just add to the mix; he is the creative mix, inspiring everyone around him to “play” their best…including me!”
In addition to his directing career, Danny has expressed ambitions that range from writing scripts to producing, and releasing his own music. Much like Childish Gambino, whom he cites as a creative inspiration, Danny refuses to be pigeonholed into a single category. “I’m not one to create just for the sake of it. I want people to walk away with something. I want people to come to me for a range of things, not just one idea. There's a lot I bring to the table,” he asserts.
This versatility aligns perfectly with DOMO’s ethos of encouraging creative growth across multiple mediums and fostering collaborations that can push the boundaries of traditional storytelling.
His signing marks an exciting new chapter for DOMO as a company, reinforcing its mission to amplify the creative voices of directors who are not afraid to take risks and break conventions. As Danny continues to evolve as a filmmaker, it’s clear that his work will be defined by depth, narrative complexity, and the willingness to experiment with new forms of creative expression.
