Daily Planet Productions Launches Community Docu-Series 'GiveAShit'
This week, Daily Planet Productions releases Episode one of 'GiveAShit,' a video series profiling the lives and work of everyday individuals who make the effort to make things better. Each episode will feature an individual who demonstrates how, through even simple actions, anyone with a heart and an idea can create positive change in their community. “This feels like the right time for this series,” said Daily Planet Productions’ president and series creator Scott Marvel. “It helps to be reminded that while we can’t control what happens to us, we do have control over what we do with it."
The program’s overall mission is to inspire others with genuine stories of empowerment, compassion and positivity. Its first episode features Sal Valdez, a local activist and union leader who, even after a life-altering stroke, continued his efforts to better his community. “Sal is a really inspiring man,” GiveAShit director Michael Gabriel said. “When you're with him, you can just feel it. To communicate that feeling, I took a different approach to this storytelling. My goal was to use cinematic, experiential b-roll to help convey feelings, emotions, and metaphor.”
Daily Planet Productions has been creating content for over thirty years for advertisers, businesses and not-for-profits. “The GiveAShit series is one way for us to use our skills to give back and share the message that when it comes to making the world better, no act is too small, no matter your circumstance.”
