For decades, Crisis have been running their Christmas services for people facing homelessness. But even though the festive season is over, people still urgently need support. That’s why, with the help of agency Consider, they’ve launched their first ever TV ad that asks people to start monthly gifts – and help end homelessness.
Recent statistics paint a grim picture: homelessness is on the rise, and on any given night more than 354,000 people in England are homeless. That’s one in 160 people. As experts in homelessness support, Crisis know that it takes consistent support to leave homelessness behind – every month, for as long as it takes.
Creative agency Consider used that insight to build ‘The Months’, which tells the story of four characters, each experiencing a different form of homelessness. From rough sleeping to sofa-surfing and unsafe temporary housing, the film shocks viewers with the reality that thousands of people are facing right now.
‘The Months’ is an unflinching look at the relentless struggles of a life spent homeless – and a story of how, through a gift to Crisis, everything can change.
With a poignant voiceover generously contributed by acclaimed actor Sir Jonathan Pryce (Game of Thrones, Slow Horses) the narrative shifts – showing viewers how, when Crisis is able to provide ongoing support, people can turn their lives around. You’re left knowing that, by giving as little as £5 a month, you really can help end homelessness.
Forming part of a wider campaign to inspire regular giving to Crisis, this TV spot aims to raise awareness of the need for ongoing donations – ensuring that Crisis can be there, for as long as it takes, helping people leave homelessness behind.
“It’s been a privilege to create this campaign for Crisis. Having volunteered for Crisis, we know just how vital it is that people donate not just at Christmas, but all year round. We’re hoping this campaign is a huge success, raising much-needed money to help people experiencing homelessness” says Joe Nicholson, creative director at Consider.
“This campaign is a huge step forward for us at Crisis, as we move beyond our successful Christmas campaign to launch our first ever TV ad to inspire year-round giving” says Emma Nagen, campaign lead at Crisis. “Ever since the beginning we've been so excited by Consider's idea and we can't wait to see the impact the campaign makes. Our services really do help people experiencing homelessness to transform their lives – and we depend on generosity from the public to be there.”
