Hotels.com knows that life doesn’t always reward you. So they created the Hotels.com Rewards Program to at least make booking travel a more rewarding experience – members can unlock instant savings now and earn free nights to use later. The brand is now launching a series of three TV spots to show how Hotels.com is far more rewarding than some everyday situations. From finding spider webs on the ceiling after an intense binge-watching session to discovering an online date is anything but what was expected, the spots show Captain Obvious pointing out the disparity between the scene at hand and Hotels.com Rewards.
In addition to TV, the new campaign will include radio spots, social videos and .gifs, an interactive online video, social influencer partnerships, and even some upcoming interviews with Captain Obvious at Radio Row in Phoenix during the college basketball tournament – with more coming in the second half of the year.
A mythical fixture of pop culture for decades, Captain Obvious was brought to life in 2014 to showcase why Hotels.com is the obvious choice for booking hotel rooms. He ran for president in 2016, and while he didn’t win the office, he did take home a Cannes Lion. This is his first campaign back.
