Based in Boulder, Gelardi will partner with the agency’s creative directors to develop new strategies

CP+B announced today that they have hired Jay Gelardi as Digital Executive Creative Director. Based in Boulder, Gelardi will partner with the agency’s creative directors in developing digital ideas and strategies, as well as providing mentorship and leadership to junior creatives.

CP+B is a full service agency with the capabilities of a digital shop along with the branding expertise, strategic insights, media capabilities, research, analytics and creative firepower of more traditional agencies. With their unique skill set, they have had the opportunity to partner with high-profile clients on a number of ground-breaking projects. These include their recent digital partnership launching the overall digital experience for NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” which encompassed the new website and “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon” iOS and Android apps. The agency was instrumental in the digital transformation of Domino’s, bringing their business to a broader set of consumers through their digital ecommerce experience, as well focusing on building out the online ordering experience across multiple platforms. CP+B’s many breakthrough digital projects have garnered honors at The Cannes Lions Festival, Clios, LIA, The Webby Awards and MIXX. Hiring Gelardi comes on the heels of Evan Russak’s appointment to Executive Director of Digital and further reinforces CP+B’s commitment to continually strengthening their digital offerings.

“The Digital ECD is a critical role at CP+B,” said Ivan Perez-Armendariz, EVP/Chief Digital Officer, CP+B. “We're at our best when it's filled with someone that has made the choice to live and breathe digital 100% of the time. Jay is someone who really understands that the book of advertising conventions is being rewritten almost on a daily basis. We are thrilled that he is here to help us continue to rewrite that book.”

Prior to joining CP+B, Jay was Digital Creative Director at Sydney-based agency The Monkeys, which received six “Agency of the Year” titles from awards shows and Australian advertising publications during his tenure. Jay’s recent contributions include work for Intel and Boost Mobile that was honored five times at the 2014 Webby Awards, while in 2013, his work for the Australian flavored milk brand OAK picked up a Facebook Studio Award and his work for Diageo Australia received a D&AD Yellow Pencil. Before The Monkeys, Jay spent eight years at Agency Republic, London, working on a number of award-winning projects that contributed to five “Digital Agency of the Year” accolades.  Over the course of his career, Jay has worked as a creative and as a director for some of the world’s biggest brands, including IKEA, Intel, Mercedes, PlayStation, Samsung, Smirnoff and The BBC. In 2008, Jay set up Republic Film, a production company specializing in interactive film and animation, and in 2011 he co-founded Charity Swearbox, a Twitter-based charitable venture that translated people’s foul-mouthed tweets into donations to good causes.
