Coral is launching the first ever motorway service guide for football fans, with a content series with social media star and football fan 'Big John'. Big John’s most popular videos, which have been watched millions of times on TikTok and Instagram, feature him ordering large quantities of Chinese food.
The content series created by Coral and Wonderhood Studios sees Big John visit a selection of the UK’s best motorway services and give his recommendations in a series of short videos for away day fans, ranking each on food variety, toilet accessibility, and ease of parking. The first episode in the series sees Big John visit Oxford Services, a 24-hour station just off Junction 8A on the M40 with a huge food court.
Coral’s David Stevens commented, “The service station is an essential stopping off point for match-going football fans, whether it’s for a wake-up coffee and bacon bap, picking up some sweet treats for the journey home, or for those that urgently need a quick toilet break. For the die-hards that follow their team week in week out, the choice of service station is a big one, and who better than Big John to give his verdict on where to make that all important pit-stop.”
James Rafter and Myles Vincent, creative directors at Wonderhood Studios said, “Motorway service stations bosh. Big John bosh. Parking, toilets, food bosh. Watch the series. Bosssshhh.”
This latest campaign continues Coral’s tonal shift as part of its ‘We’re Here For It’ brand platform which seeks to put fans first and connect with audiences in more a humorous way.
Big John’s guide will continue, with future episodes focusing on Fleet Services, located between Junctions 4A and 5 of the M3 motorway, and London Gateway, the first service area on the M1 between Junction 2 and 4.
