Award-winning post house Company 3, a subsidiary of Deluxe Entertainment Services Group, has partnered with Mumbai-based post facility FutureWorks to provide feature film and commercial clients in India the color grading services of Company 3's world-renowned artists. This “virtual outpost” allows clients working out of the FutureWorks facility in Mumbai to collaborate with any Company 3 artist based in Company 3’s Santa Monica, New York, Atlanta, or London facilities. The Mumbai outpost has already been used successfully for the Nokia "Bollywood Pocket Dance Wire," directed by Ahmen Khan for agency AKLP. Company 3 colorist Siggy Ferstl graded the vibrant Bollywood-style spot in Santa Monica while interacting in real time with clients at FutureWorks in Mumbai.
"Mumbai is one of the world's thriving centers of film and advertising production," says Company 3 founder and president Stefan Sonnenfeld. "This 'virtual outpost' is a wonderful way to bring clients working there together with our Company 3 colorists."
The outpost is set up to ensure perfect calibration of displays in the two locations so that everyone at both facilities sees exactly the same images and image refinements--as though they were together in the same theater. This offers exciting new collaborative post production opportunities that once might have required a prohibitive travel budget.
"This outpost allows FutureWorks to offer our local clients a roster of internationally-renowned colorists who have graded highly-regarded films and commercials," says Guarav Gupta, FutureWorks' CEO. "It enables FutureWorks to truly raise the bar in terms of the creative and technical offerings FutureWorks now provides."
