code d’azur, a digital brand and experience company, welcomes Daniël Sytsma as executive creative director (ECD). Daniël will start at code d’azur six months after leaving Dentsu Creative Amsterdam. In between, he worked as an interim creative director and design consultant. Daniël will join the management team at code d’azur and lead the design, copy, and creative department.
Triple and code d’azur merged last October to become an international agency group with over 500 employees based in Amsterdam, Alkmaar, Austin, Barcelona, Dubai, and Gdansk.
CEO Nik Nieuwenhuijs is thrilled with onboarding Daniël and is confident in his ability to lead the agency group to the next level: “We are excited to welcome Daniël as our new executive creative director. Daniël will take on the challenge of leading the agency group’s creative vision and driving innovation and growth. His passion for developing ground breaking ideas and international experience make him the ideal addition to our team. We look forward to working together on exceptional creative projects and strengthening our position as one of the most innovative agencies in the industry.”
As one of the five partners and creative directors of the creative agency ACHTUNG!, Daniël contributed to its growth from a boutique agency to one of the top full-service agencies in Amsterdam. He also co-founded Studio Kraftwerk, an award-winning specialist label focused on innovation and product design. Both agencies have been acquired by Dentsu Creative, where Sytsma oversaw the design departments of 7000 people across 51 markets worldwide as global chief design officer.
Throughout his career, Daniël has helped advance the success of pioneering global brands and disruptive scale-ups like Volkswagen, Philips, Porsche, Adidas, and Adobe. His creative work has been widely recognized by Cannes Lions, D&AD, Eurobest (3x Grand Prix), Red Dot Design Awards (1x Grand Prix), and the Webby Awards.
Daniël Sytsma shares, “I believe the best work is done at the intersection of disciplines. This requires an agency that combines creativity, design, technology, and data in one creative vision. This is why I’ve joined code d’azur and Triple. With their innovative track record and international ambition, it’s the perfect opportunity to accelerate the agency group’s next growth phase.”
