Residents of a tiny village in Betânia do Piauí, in the hinterlands of Brazil, will have an unforgettable Christmas. Suspiro has no access to electric light, and is so isolated that no one among its 900 inhabitants had ever seen Santa Claus before.
But Coca-Cola’s Christmas Caravan changed that, by bringing light and memorable moments of happiness to Suspiro´s residents. The traditional truck was customized with a LED screen on its back, which reproduced the Merry Christmas messages sent to the Coca-Cola’s website (www.coca-cola.com). The activity, created by WMcCann and locally produced by Momentum, was named "This Christmas help bring magic to all", and invited all Brazilians to share the Christmas magic and joy with the local residents two weeks before the caravan happened.
To make Christmas magic last longer, Santa Claus gave to the village the construction of its first community center, to be inaugurated in mid 2013.
“Christmas is a magical time of which Coca-Cola is part, through the sharing of joy and optimism. This year, we invited all Brazilians to share their best feelings in the form of message”, says Luciana Feres, Coca-Cola Marketing Director.
Part of the activity was captured by the lens of Breno Silveira, director of the Brazilian hit movies “Two Sons of Francisco” and “Gonzaga, from Father to Son”, for the production of a 60” TV Commercial that will be broadcasted on Fantástico, the most popular TV Show in Brazil, aired every Sunday night at Globo TV, that has in average an estimated audience of 4 million viewers. The premiere will be on December 23, during an exclusive break. The 3’45” campaign teaser, and also a 3’ TV spot were also directed by Breno and are available on Coca-Cola YouTube channel.
“This was a different film, one of those that will remain in our memories forever. I will never forget the joy on children’s faces while looking at Santa Claus. A truly exciting, magical day!”, says Breno Silveira.
