California-based cannabis edibles brand Kiva Confections have launched a new spot. It’s directed by Biscuit’s duo Joaquin & Lalou, and was done brand-direct (and filmed before the shutdown).
The spot marks Kiva’s first video ad (they’ve previously done print and OOH only), and it’s being rolled out online and on social media platforms. The inspiration behind the ad was to tell the story of Kiva’s premium ingredients and craftsmanship, while de-mystifying and de-stigmatising edibles.
Joaquin & Lalou shared the following statement: “We loved the way this spot juxtaposes a cheeky voiceover with the premium treatment of cannabis - it shows the high quality of the product while maintaining a sense of playfulness. It was great working directly with Kiva’s CD Kevin Thomson and producer Mark Tobin, and we had a very collaborative process. Plus, Kiva’s products taste great - or so we’ve been told!”
