London based production company, Burger has signed Alexander Haines to its global
roster.
Alex spent time working at BigBalls before moving to Pulse Films, where he shot for established global brands such as WWF, Red Bull, Lucozade, Betfair and most recently car giant Audi.
Burger
founder, Alan Traquair comments: "Alex doesn't do things the traditional
way. He came to directing via the varied worlds of trawler man, celeb
assistant, building labourer, fish salesman, tour manager and advertising
production assistant, so he always gives a fresh perspective on every task. He
has a director's eye for detail and an editor's appetite for storytelling,
always searching to unearth the emotional truth of any story. We are really pleased
that he has agreed to join the Burger family."
He adds, "When Alex stepped into advertising, he taught himself how to use Final Cut before working closely with the UK’s most awarded art director, Walter Campbell of Guinness surfer fame, for nearly five years. It was Walter who first put a camera in his hand for a Sony behind-the-scenes film, (on the morning of the shoot itself!), and so it began. Walter felt that he would be a good fit for us and I have to say I agree!"
Walter Campbell himself notes that, "The design,
the composition of shots, the mood, the tempo of the piece, casting, sound
design, it’s all considered by Alex and everything is refined under the
microscope of his ambition for the work. He is all about defining his work as
something special, always searching for those lateral components that create
the indelible visual or impactful sound, or that amazing casting choice that
can set the work apart. The one thing that surprises me most about him and that
maybe unique in a director so new, is how he talks about what makes the piece ‘lasting’. A really
terrific talent!"
Directing quickly became something Alex
both enjoyed and had a talent for and he began shooting in-house at Anomaly,
and then TBWA for brands such as Converse, Infiniti, Adidas and Nissan before
moving to BigBalls, Pulse and finally Burger.
