Brand New School Welcomes Creative Director JP Rooney

Bicoastal design-forward creative studio Brand New School announces an exciting addition to their New York team, JP Rooney, in the role of creative director.

As an animation director, designer, and illustrator, Rooney has worked for numerous global brands, including Google, Target, Oreo, Toyota, and Bleacher Report. His unique style and brand experience is a natural fit for the ever-evolving visual repertoire of BNS. 

As a creative director at Brand New School, Rooney will focus on telling stories via design and animation. “Above all, Brand New School is known for its use of design to invent languages and new ways of storytelling . We produce innovative, visually fluent work, and JP is incredibly talented at doing just that,” says managing partner Devin Brook.

Prior to joining Brand New School, Rooney was associate creative director for Gentleman Scholar, spearheading the launch of their east coast offices. Rooney has received honors from Cannes Lions to Clios, and his work is included in the MOMA permanent film archive.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Brand New School, which is a thriving, multi-disciplinary environment,” says Rooney. “I feel lucky to have found such a perfect home, and creative playground. We’re already discovering and creating together.”

Since joining the BNS team, Rooney has directed a major project for Google’s hardware launch and led a PSA for TheirWorld.
