'Borderless' Production Company Madre Launches in the US

Madre, a new production company founded by Jonathon Ker, Alejandro Saevich, and Jorge Aguilera, has launched in the US. With a fresh perspective born from the Latin gaze, Madre's mission is to create a collaborative, truly bilingual production powerhouse that redefines crossover narratives and visions. With a borderless approach to filmmaking, MADRE focuses on “conquering mountains in a single stride” - delivering excellence of craft bathed in culture.

Matching their commitment to maintaining a global perspective, their wildly inventive directorial talent roster includes Cannes Lion award winner Luisa Kracht, the Brazil-based wonder duo Kid Burro, rising star Faride Schroeder, who is currently the Free The Work Ambassador for Mexico, and an international wild bunch hailing from Argentina, the UK, Spain, Mexico, and the United States. MADRE is also home to ESTUDIO, a unique one-stop animation studio where world-class filmmakers and animators are set to conquer North America. This includes Guadalajara-based stop motion directors Sofía Carrillo, Juan José Medina, and Luis Tellez, who have received Oscar nominations and won several Ariel Awards (Mexico’s Academy Awards) and most recently collaborated with director Guillermo del Toro on his Oscar-winning stop-motion adaptation of Pinnochio in 2022.

MADRE’s multitalented roster is an inspired continuation of the founding trio’s shared history of discovering new talent. With more than 25 years in the industry, Jonathon Ker’s track record is rich with examples of him bringing new talent to the US market, including Michel Gondry and Gore Verbinski. Likewise, Alejandro Saevich, an award-winning filmmaker in his own right, has long demonstrated a talent for creating unique work environments that emphasize creativity and excellence. The Argentinean-born producer, and co-founder of Mexico City-based production company Madrefoca, has the ability to balance auteur cinema and advertising integrating talent who work fluidly across commercials, features, music videos, and independent projects.

Rounding out MADRE’s founding trio is the renowned director Jorge Aguilera, whose exhilarating 25-year career has spanned editing, writing, producing, and mentoring new talent. Aguilera is also a co-founder of Mexico’s top-tier production company Madrefoca. His multi-awarded directing career includes commercials, music videos, and feature films. In advertising, he has worked with premiere worldwide agencies and brands and has been named Mexico’s best commercials director several times.
