The creative agency Bickerstaff.499 has crafted a branding and advertising campaign for the Ukrainian optical store ‘Oprava Vyboru’. But its primary defining feature, or rather, features – are in birds.
You may not immediately understand what glasses and birds have in common. But you are not a creative type, and certainly not a Bickerstaffer. Because it's not about the glasses, but about what they make a person – diverse. Being different every day – isn't that freedom? And isn't freedom the feeling of free flight? That's a hint about the birds.
"It's unpleasant when someone asks a person in sunglasses: is the sun shining for you? Especially awkward when it really isn't. So our goal was to kill this cringe. To not only draw attention to ‘Oprava Vyboru’, but also to encourage people to wear different glasses to suit different moods and styles. Because glasses are not just to block the sun, but also a stylish accessory," explained an incognito Bickerstaffer, without removing his sunglasses.
So, the main message of the campaign is "We have the freedom to be different, to be free, and to wear many different glasses as we please".
The Bickerstaffers claim that they created all the videos themselves, and that no bird was harmed. “In the first versions of the videos, we wanted the pigeon to narrate the rap,” they admit. It's a pity we won't see that. But instead, we'll see 12 cool videos.
In addition, the agency developed the identity, the concept of the store's exterior design ‘Oprava Vyboru’ in Bila Tserkva, visuals for social networks and special outdoor advertising on rooftops. Well, because – birds again.
For this, they had to find a roof in Bila Tserkva, but they did not share the details of this story.
"Man is guided by earth, earth by sky, sky by birds, glory - to Ukraine!", summarised the creative director of the agency, Illya Anufrienko.
Bickerstaff.499 — (more than just) a Ukrainian creative agency that specialises in everything needed to get people talking about a brand. And (for this very reason) in 2022, the agency won a lot of awards and became the best creative agency in Central and Eastern Europe according to Epica Awards.
