Betty Crocker Gets First UK Ad

Another Film Company's Lucy Blakstad proves you can have your cake and eat it in this stylish commercial for Betty Crocker.

General Mills' Betty Crocker Cakes Brand is huge in the USA, but has never advertised in the UK.

With her natural performances and strong visual styling, Another Film Company's Lucy Blakstad was the obvious choice to direct this all important first commercial.

The brief was to create a modern retro feel, that referenced the past, but gave the brand a relevance to the stylish, on-the-go women of today.

Blakstad cast actors & swing dancers that genuinely lived and understood the style and matched vintage clothing with high street fashion to give the commercial an edgy vintage vibe.

The performances have a great feeling of spontaneity and the close up eating shots are natural, indulgent, stolen moments - definitely not something from a 'Flake' ad!

"I LOVE cake" says Blakstad "And jumped at the chance of directing something with a retro twist. Normally I'm required to create 'real' homes, so it was a pleasure to put on my red heels, a splash of lipstick and embrace the vibe. It was great fun to direct, which I think really comes over in the finished film - I didn't want it to end!"
