Production company B-Reel announced today that Academy Award-nominated documentary director, Kief Davidson has joined the company’s commercial director roster. Davidson comes to B-Reel from Believe Media, and is particularly known for his ability to extract performances from real people and his understanding of story structure, which can be seen in recent campaigns he has directed for GE, Absolut, American Express, and Cadillac.
In addition to his commercial work, Brooklyn, NY native Davidson is perhaps best known for his documentary films. In 2013, his documentary Open Heart was nominated for an Oscar in the “Best Documentary Short Subject,” category and is now airing on HBO.
Currently, Davidson is directing Beyond the Brick- the first official feature-length film on the global phenomenon of LEGO, slated for theatrical release in 2014. Davidson’s prior films include, Kassim the Dream (Winner AFI Film Festival) and The Devils Miner (Winner Tribeca Film Festival and DGA Nominee).
